Boomkat Product Review:
Dag For Dag are American-Swedish siblings Sarah and Jacob Snavely, who release their debut full-length, following on from a first EP that came out last year on Saddle Creek. Having been born in the USA only to eventually move to Stockholm, it's appropriate enough that the record should have been made half in Sweden and half in America, with Secretly Canadian singer-songwriter Richard Swift producing five tracks and Johannes Berglund helming the remaining seven. Despite being made across two different continents and with two different producers, Boo comes together beautifully, capturing a certain roughness and live feel to the duo's work. The Snavelys are at their best when embracing the electric violin and echoing drums of 'Boxed Up In Pine' and the Chris Isaak-goes-goth twang-athon, 'Traffic Jam', leaving enough space and misty reverb in the mix to keep the sound minimal and raw without the song in question feeling in any way skeletal.
