Boomkat Product Review:
Originally released in 2002 this sees the Blow (at this point only Khaela Maerkich) on surprisingly stripped down form given the pop explosion of the recent 'Paper Television'. There's a real K Records spirit on show here though, something that harks back to the glory days of the Riot Grrrl movement, a lo-fi, home grown and honest aesthetic. As Khaela utters and mumbles sweet somethings over a scratchy beat or a detuned guitar there's the sense that what she is attempting is utterly singular, almost outsider even, and in light of her more recent work this all makes total sense. Fans of leftfield pop should drop in for a closer look.
