Boomkat Product Review:
A rare and typically beautiful outing from Nest, aka Deaf Center's Otto Totland and Huw Roberts of Wales' Serein Records. Quiet, meditative piano and ambient electronics are dealt in sublime manner over four compositions. 'Stillness' is drifting and pastoral, with plangent keys against a widescreen backdrop, while 'The Dying Roar' is more bleak and droning, leaden with heavy hearted emotion. Further in, 'Koretz's Meteor' makes odd use of field recordings and the sound of camera snapping to texturise a swirling drone symphony, and 'The Ultimate Horizon' is more concisely constructed from aquatic subbass and finely layered shellac crackle reminding of moments from the superb Bellows LP by Giuseppe Ielasi.
