Boomkat Product Review:
DO NOT PASS THIS CD BY. Part of the industry of cheap reissues that flood the marketplace and get hammered on MTV Europe advertising until you want to put your foot through the screen. But hold up, get past the horrific artwork and check the tracklisting. Not much material on this CD dates from after 1988. All this is classic and I mean classic early west coast electro bombs and pre NWA era outings from Dr Dre. Starting this 32 track set is one of finest, Kid Frost's ‘Terminator’, production from one of the lost heroes of the age - Dave 'The Alien Wizard' Storrs and completely futuristic beat bomb with blasting lyrics and synth trips. Dr Dre and Yella's Slice is an uber rare cover version of Run D-M-C's Sucker MC's. Uncle Jamm's Army's was a one man record industry in the early eighties, responsible for giving legends like The Egyptian Lover his first start and his 'Dial A Freak' is a sexed up electro classic. Even 2 Live Crew appear with the ace 'Revelation' that came years before the cheese, tits and arse became the norm. Three early Ice T classic numbers appear two from the seminal Techno Hop label and Ice's first 12" on Electrobeat 'Killers' is the sure shot shit, again a Dave Storrs job. Combined on original 12" you'd be looking at a $500+ splurge and this music is the obvious influence for so much music that's come since especially on the new school electro tip. A history lesson that everybody should check into and remember, 'electro is aural sex'.
