Boomkat Product Review:
Gatefold 180g orange vinyl with hilarious/dogshit artwork. “Limited” edition of 2000 for aRSeD? ’16
The Fall’s Bingo Masters at The Witch Trials consists of lo-grade live recordings made at the People’s Free Festival at Deeply Vale on 22nd July, 1978. It was previously available as Live at Deeply Vale with a slightly different tracklist.
Marc Riley (bass): Deeply Vale would have been the first festival i’d been to… and as a musician rather than a punter, my memories are vague although I do remember us being introduced by Tony Wilson, the bloke off the telly who my sister fancied like mad, he was sat on stage with his first wife Lindsay Reade who I fancied like mad.
The Fall’s performance was a bit ragged - a mixture of no soundcheck and daylight - though the most intriguing memory has to be that of me snapping THREE bass strings in one song. Surely a world record??. I remember an interview with Paul Gray of Eddie and The Hot Rods who was proud as punch coz he’d broken two bass strings in one song. Lightweight!!. No one could compete with my ham fistedness.
Funnily enough I remember that like it was yesterday. I was back at Deeply Vale a year later but by that time was playing guitar.”
