Boomkat Product Review:
Brit post-rock staples Billy Mahonie arrive at Static Caravan having previously released via Fierce Panda, Too Pure and Southern. For their latest stop on this grand tour of great indie record labels the band retain a purity to their sound that can be linked back to the genre's progenitors like Slint, for largely unconditioned, effects-free compositions that flow and languish in melody. This stuff harkens back to an era before electronics and big pay-off crescendos became synonymous with post-rock, and the emphasis on tracks like 'After The Dive' and 'A Part Of Me Flows To The Sea' take the old-fashioned route of sculpting tuneful song narratives out of interlocking guitar parts. Very nice indeed.
