**Reissue of Dr Who Dat's 'Beyond 2morrow' under his Jneiro Jarel moniker** Philadelphia's Jneiro Jarel really is a legend among beatmakers, having already shifted templates under his Dr. Who Dat? moniker and as part of the hugely innovative Shape of Broad Minds, as well as a whole ruck of productions under his own name over the last decade. This full-length (originally released under the Dr. Who Dat moniker last year) once again illustrates how Jarel's production is just off the scale and somehow more convincing than many of the newer producers emerging out of either L.A.'s burgeoning beat scene or its European equivalent - W*nky. Jneiro is clearly indebted to Dilla, and yet there is something uniquely rugged and brilliantly unpolished about his productions, imbuing the material here with the depth that's so often missing from the work of his contemporaries. The 13 tracks here all more or less clock in at around the 2 or 3 minute marks and never outstay their welcome, funnelling all manner of influences from Brazillian to squashed disco and R&B through Jarel's uniquely coarse yet luxurious and prismic production style, making this one of the most essential albums of its kind in 2010. Very highly recommended.
