Boomkat Product Review:
Gunnar Haslam follows his L.I.E.S. LP with dark, killer, weirder club trax for Chicago's Argot label. Where his 'Mimesiak' LP was a collection of experiments, these tracks put the research into dancefloor practice. A-side 'Bera Range' scopes out welting bass drum and well spaced Roland rhythms against beautifully dark synth drones, rolling breakbeats and epic chord progressions bound to affect the mood of any 'floor. Flipside, 'Optional' rolls condenses a darker sort of breakbeat house meets electro-techno and early IDM vibe reminding of early Æ or Black Dog, and 'Nevenoe' slinks slower, lower with a moody sorta Kassem Mosse warehouse vibe.
