Boomkat Product Review:
Ola Podrida is the recording alias of David Wingo, who with Belly Of The Lion delivers a second long-player, and a thing of great beauty it is too. Penned and produced within the confines of his own apartment, this record sounds nothing like the single-handed affair it in fact is, delivering song after song of exquisitely arranged melancholic Americana. This isn't your standard-issue navel-gazing acoustic strum-athon, but rather a shimmering foray into cinematic songcrafting that at its finest sounds like Bon Iver propelled into the realms of shoegaze, as on 'We All Radiant' and 'Roomful Of Sparrows'. Good stuff.
