Boomkat Product Review:
London’s Alien Jams radio show-turned-label pairs two of the city’s searching, dancefloor-curious artists at idiosyncratic angles.
Beatrice Dillon wires the A-side with a beautifully odd, slithering cyborganism called Curl; emerging from a crispy chrysalis to spread its crooked, slipped wings over 5 minutes of dazed, mbira-like twang at a slowly swaggering tilt compatible with the weirdest Madteo jams.
In contrast, Karen Gwyer’s B-side, Common Soundproofing Myths is much longer, spacious and psyched out with tentative drum programming cradling a flights of byzantine synth fancy that eventually gels into the kind of loose, acidic jam you might expect from Jamal Moss.
Limited, and highly recommended.
