Boomkat Product Review:
Sound poet, producer, vocalist and even calligrapher, AGF, or Antye Greie presents a challenging but satisfyingly complex new album. She's blessed with an unquantifiable, deeply explorative spirit which is restlessly active on 'Beatnadel', her second solo album this year. Attempting to sum up it's geometric contours and deeply abstracted shapes is a bloody hard task, but essentially she's one character who can still make the art of glitched music sound thrilling and engaging. Oblique beats and vocals - both her own poetry and recordings of Noam Chomsky - are knotted together, refracting against and within each other to form spiky electronic sequences with a spatial dynamism comparable to her longtime partner, Vladislav Delay's finest work, but perhaps with a more playfully feline sense of teasing melody, aggression and resolution. Fans of Anne James Chaton, Vladislav Delay, and older Bob Ostertag would do well to check this out.
