Boomkat Product Review:
Screwed Goa trance cult, Full Circle hustle a killer 3rd mixtape of wind tunnel dream dance motion for Good Morning Tapes. Sleep and weep eh?
Alexis Le Tan & Joakim’s most cherished project of the past decade, responsible for a chain of hypnotic gems with Crowdspacer and for mutual soul Vladimir Ivkovic’s Offen Music, Full Circle have perfected a sort of chopped & screwed trance dance for their generation. On ‘Back to Disco Valley’ they filter, edit, and recontextualise another haul of hard-to-ID late ‘80s and early ‘90s trance, New Beat and psych nuggets with a properly seductive, subliminal sort of traction bound to make dancers trample a hole in the sand.
The antithesis to so much kiddy rave in circulation right now, Full Circle’s sound redresses more sensual fundamentals with a sexier pace and slow-burn appeal that revitalises what was once a dirty word to many dancers. Given the current frequency of recycled ideas in dance music, no doubt we’re due a slow donk movement by 2023 but, ’till then, we’ll more than make do with Full Circle’s mixes, here absolutely holding our attention with 74 minutes of treacly trance arps, psych riffs, burning acid hooks and effortlessly propulsive 909s in a cosmic ebb and flow of teasing E-music gratification.
