Boomkat Product Review:
After releasing in drips and drabs via labels like Dance To The Radio and jealous Records, Yorkshire post-rockers This Et Al have decided to do it for themselves and start up their own label to release this, their debut album. Baby Machine is undoubtedly at the more aggressive end of the ever-expanding post-rock spectrum, taking in the heaviest bits of Mogwai and ... And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead. The band rampage their way through tracks like 'He Shoots Presidents' and the incendiary 'Of National Importance' but it's not all thunderous musical violence: 'Cabin Hum' proves that the band know how to sculpt a morose, downtempo instrumental when they want to. It's a beautiful meeting of glistening guitars and plodding piano melodies with a rasping lo-fi drum machine track pinning it all together. A very promising debut.
