Boomkat Product Review:
pigbaby pursues one of our fave 12”s of ’22 with a pair of yarn-spun vignettes heralding his soon-come debut album
In 2022, with his ‘Palindromes’ EP, Irish designer and musician pigbaby served one those nuggets that makes rustling in the musical undergrowth every week so worthwhile. Its blend of jerry-built indie-pop, Irish republican salutes and field recordings really hit the mark, and his gonzoid , guess-again approach continues on these two new bits. With ‘Baby foxes & me’ he divines a poetry from the everyday in his recounting a bike ride set to raw strings, and culminating in a folk-rock shoegaze blow-out, while ‘Life moves fast, so take my hand’ cuts looser with domestic scene of guitar pottering, glitched vox and fizzy machine beat recalling more eaze x claire rousay via The Shadow Ring and an auld Melankolik act Day One. Sealed with mix down by Rainy Miller, what’s not to like?
