Boomkat Product Review:
aya folds Space Afrika's 'Honest Labour' standout 'B£E' into a double-time hard dance belter, ratcheting up Blackhaine's vocals to an acidic helium squeak. Absolutely fuckin' destructive peak time material.
Trust aya to take a slithering Mancunian neo-trip-hop masterpiece and alchemize it into rolling 4/4 squat rave monster. She didn't have to go this hard, but nicks Blackhaine's earworm chatter, notching the pitch to match the new tempo and turning it from a doomed reflection into a party-igniting chant. All too brief, the mix forgoes the original track's heady three act structure in favor of pure dancefloor kinetics - a few seconds and we're already gripped by the rolling 200bpm kicks, nippy break and sliced FX. Somehow though, it never once avoids the mood of Space Afrika's original, instead adding a dimension that harmonizes with Blackhaine's story, lighting up the Northern hard dance scene and pointing to donk, Scouse house and beyond. Think of it as a victory lap for Space Afrika, aya and Blackhaine.
