Boomkat Product Review:
Axis of Evol huh? Well apart from a godawful pun, I am left wondering whether this is a sneaky little reference to Sonic Youth? Well on hearing the album I certainly wouldn’t be surprised, there are enough noisy evol-esque moments on this compact little record to warrant a good old look from Youth fans. Pink Mountaintops are touted by their label as being the sexploitative bongo-armed counterparts to Black Mountain… I’m not sure exactly what this means but I think I’d like to, it sounds hot. Going for a similar retro-stoner-rock vibe, simlar to the aforementioned Black Mountain (no surprise since both bands share Stephen McBean) this is a stomping and hugely enjoyable record, doused in patchouli and dressed in tie-dye most likely. Roll up a fat doobie and sit back, dude – let yourself go, this is a keeper. Right.
