Boomkat Product Review:
Genuinely freeky boogie badness from the down-under producer, Inkswel, issued on the excellent and exploratory Faces Records. With fidelity set to *crunchy-ass* and party vibes flowing throughout, Inkswel finds that rare balance of in-the-pocket but loosely psychedelic where too many in his scene are just buttoned-up and frankly, f**king boring. Over eight tracks he switches up and flips the groove with effortless flair, strutting from the tucked and bumpin' drum chops of 'Australaborialis' to the crispy battered loop funk and wheezy synths of 'Circle Jerks', thru the beat-off vingette 'Earth Girls' and a demented, private press funk-style killer 'Devil in Disguise' featuring a vocal from Jitwam Sinha that's equal parts Prince and Wicked Witch. Downtown his 'Daisy Age' nods to the squashed chug of Dabrye, and we're smitten with the warbly, off-kilter Quasimoto styles of 'Stardusted', leaving the warehouse jabs of 'The Bootleg' and an old skool nugget 'Fearless' to polish off the party. Smart.
