Boomkat Product Review:
Featuring a totally killer 20 minute side from Wolf Eyes...
The Wolf Eyes side really takes it for us, presenting a previously unreleased, sprawling piece entitled Devil’s Knights Inn Blues that captures James Baljo, John Olson and Nate Young operating at the most spacious, lysergically melted levels of avant-rock abstraction.
For some 20 minutes Young’s electronics weave a web of cosmic spumes around Olson’s cranky sax bleats and Baljo’s glue-huffing vocals and guitar klang, ultimately coming off like Faust jamming in the nether hours at Bobby Beausoleil’s place, surrounded by bubbling bongs and zombied junkies spitting lasers at each other.
We’re not going to front, though; the A-side pieces of squally punk and rock posturing from Timmy’s Organism and VIDEO are just unnecessary save than to make the Wolf Eyes’ side seem even stronger, vitally weirder by comparison.
