Sa Pa arrives on Astral Industries with a sound that steps off from dub techno’s deepest strains into pure electro-acoustic ambient dub abstraction. Shorn of beats, Sa Pa’s music on ‘Atmospheric Fragments’ sees a palette of field recordings and original production chicanery subjected to shearing subaquatic stress forces in two fathomless parts extracted from studio and live contexts realised for an online performance and short film soundtrack.
The results are classically Berlin in scope and feel, swimming in heady waters previously explored by the likes of Vladislav Delay on Chain Reaction or Robert Henke (Monolake) in his experimental ambient vectors on Imbalance Computer Music.
