Carlos Giffoni eh? What a man! Not content with curating one of the best labels of the moment (No-Fun) and also one of the best festivals (also No-Fun) he's becoming almost as productive as his co-conspirator Merzbow or even the flying Dutchman Machinefabriek with guest spots on almost every other record I review (*this may not be true...). 'Arrogance' is a solo album from the circuit bending genius and as I'm sure you can imagine, it's noisy as hell. Giffoni creates noise using purely analogue means and this album is all made from a dusty old analogue synthesizer. So far, so gnarly then and across five tracks the Argentinian manages to make you forget all your preconceptions about noise and synthesis as he makes things bubble, squeal, squelch and cough without ever really losing the plot. Of course there are those who will hate 'Arrogance' (loving that title by the way Carlos baby), but they're no doubt too busy listening to psychedelic trance to care and they can leave the big, clever stuff to us. This is a record that commands you to play it loud, that implores you to listen to every oscillation with heart-jumping glee - it's basically damned good and I'm kind of jealous that I didn't make it myself. Raw power.
