Boomkat Product Review:
The Heads' notorious shredder Paul Allen perfectly follows the trend for rhythm-driven psych in the vein of Can or Hawkwind with an exceptional side for the burgeoning Rocket Recordings. The motorik percussive roil and screeching guitar slashes of (mind) opener 'Hermit' will test your mettle - are you a dabbler or in it for the journey? - and once inside there's a more subtle form of hypnosis to the lysergic lap of 'Precession', before resolving the A-side with the beatless drift of 'Ende'. That all feels like preparation for the wide-open expanse of 'Entropy', stranding us in the middle of some alien landscape urged on by encroaching loops of pygmy drummers while a giant, brooding bassline creeps up to loom behind and join in their intensely gratifying ritual.
