Boomkat Product Review:
Cocteau Twin and beacon of all things shimmering and gossamer-like in the modern musical landscape, Robin Guthrie offers up four new tracks via Rocket Girl. Having been a fixture on the indie scene for many moons, Guthrie's influence is perhaps more present than ever, with the aftermath of the shoegaze revival revealing a whole host of contemporary and new acts tapping into that classic, Cocteau Twins sound. The material featured on the Angel Falls EP represents a further refinement of Guthrie's art, carving out chorus and delay soaked instrumentals; effects pedal epics like 'Camera Lucida' and the blissed out drum machine patter of 'Red Moon Rising'. Guthrie's compelling guitar-driven soundscapes confirm that he's still got a thing or two to teach endless waves of imitators.
