Boomkat Product Review:
'Amusers & Puzzlers' is the incendiary kiss-off from NYC's lean, muscular noise rock unit, Sightings. After 15 years entrenched in the city's underground, and following a successful European tour and ninth album, 'Terribly Well', they disbanded in 2014, leaving us with this final document of their adroit capabilities when it comes to jackhammer noise and unorthodox axe mangling. These tracks were all recorded in parallel to 'Terribly Well', and follow a similarly bloodied path thru pulsing motorok discord with 'Counterfeited', to furious, Lightning Bolt-like roil in '1982', and rubbling No wave assault in '13'. But they save enough energy to concentrate on the keening 16 minute mass of 'Syllabus of Errors', which could be considered the smouldering funeral pyre for their time together, before checking out with the nauseous roil of and shanking guitar shards of 'I Steal From My House', which is quite a funny title, actually. A little something to get your rock teeth into, and a highly recommended swansong from this great band.
