Boomkat Product Review:
Formerly of The Lilys, Art Di Furia went on to form Philadelphian psych-pop outfit the Photon Band, whose influences stretch between the slow rocking strains of Neil Young and Galaxie 500. None of the four packed out tracks here let the standard slip, sounding as finely crafted as they do blissfully laid back. 'She Turns (And She's Turning Again)' somehow sounds like an amalgam of 13-era Blur, Sparklehorse and the psychedelics of fellow Philadelphians Espers, all coming together in a single, brilliant whole. 'Alone On The Moon' meanwhile sounds awesome as a horizontal Crazy Horse-type jam. There's more Young-isms to be uncovered on 'Last judgement', which has a bit of an After The Goldrush feel to it. Finally, the digital version includes a bonus track not found on the original vinyl pressing of the album; 'Mahogany Row' sounds very much in keeping with the sounds of early '70s California, coming across as somewhere between James Taylor and Crosby, Stills & Nash.
