Boomkat Product Review:
After much cross-interaction, the legendary Wolfgang Voigt (aka Mike Ink, aka Gas) finally comes to nest with the equally legendary Kompakt Label. 'All' is the logical progression on from the effervescent 'Gas' sound. Having coined the term 'Pop Ambient', Kompakt now bring us the richest, deepest, most essential slice of ambient pop this side of heaven. The sound of Gas was multi-layered, deeply claustrophobic, always going one step further in its density and heaviness. Here, the gravity is somewhat lifted. Opening track '1' presets itself onto uplift..beatless washes of sound that flow with an airy tranquility. '3' introduces chiming percussion weighted at the upper end of sound. The underlying melodies are so carefully constructed that you will find it impossible not to feel warm and optimistic in its presence. '4' is truly remarkable. Think of Takemura playing out with 4AD legends the Cocteau Twins (Circa Treasure) and This Mortal Coil. Stunning. This is a truly unissable epic from one of the scene's most important figures. Essential.
