Boomkat Product Review:
Zola Jesus records alone on piano in a 2,000 year old Turkish chapel on "Alive in Cappadocia", letting the ancient space carry her unmistakable voice.
Cappadocia is one of the world's most important historical sites, dating from the 6th century BC. Nika Rosa Danilova ended up there when she was shooting a video for 'Lost' with director Mu Tunc, and stumbled across Bezirhane, a rock-cut courtyard complex that contains a small chapel. The complex was used in the past as a linseed oil factory and a monastery, and Danilova repurposes it as a performance space, taking advantage of the unique reverb profile and belting through recent songs 'Desire' and 'Into The Wild' and old favorites 'Skin' and 'Syphon'. There couldn't be a more fitting location for her music.
