Boomkat Product Review:
An album of African popular music with a real crossover sound, African Moves Vol. 2 is a compilation that really feels as if it's been designed with Western tastes in mind. It also sounds very much of the '80s, with synthesizer sounds that giveaway its 1987 release date. Hanging over this African Moves compilation you get the sense that its release might not be entirely unrelated to the popularity of Paul Simon's Graceland a few months earlier, although it's hard to get a decent grasp of this record's historical context given how little background information seems to be floating around the net. Still, there's a strong selection of artists here, and it's another fine African pop selection to put on your shopping list.
