Boomkat Product Review:
Sublime helpings of creamy kosmiche synth magic from Gerard Hanson (E.R.P.) in his revered Convextion guise for the first time since 2007! In over 20 years of the Texan artist’s productions, we’ve never heard him go this far out…
The Acido label host these two spiralling intergalactic wormholes, bridging the bandwidth between original ‘70s Berlin-schule scapes and contemporary, retro-vintage synth music via the restricted airspace of Area 51; gazing long, lush and lonely across some of the most beautiful work in his catalogue.
A1 is beat-less but pulsates with ancient, star-lit arpeggios curved with Convextion’s patented chord sequencing and heart-in-mouth key changes that flow with an almost ineffable elegance. With B1 he introduces a waltzing drum machine smoke pattern to harness a more wistful sort of Vangelis brass study, panning the horizon with wide-angled lens, spying the outline of a dusky distant megatropolis smudged with smog and lens flare from the three suns overhead.
Like some fine single malt, it’s highly recommended to reserve this for private times or sharing with pals.
