Boomkat Product Review:
Anne Laplantine's work exhibits something of a nomadic quality, moving from label to label (previously Angelika Kohlermann and Tomlab among others) and pseudonym to pseudonym, having recorded as Michiko Kusaki and Anne Hamburg, and even - confusingly - Angelika Kohlermann. Further to all this, the French-born artist has moved home between Vienna, Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin and Paris over recent years. It's little wonder that her music should be so fragmented and prone to ADD-ish narratives, yet this is also Laplantine's greatest strength. From song to song, sketched ideas come across in an enticingly half-formed fashion, tantalisingly touching upon bonafide lo-fi pop songs like 'Where It Goes'.
