Egyptrixx becomes the latest member of the Night Slugs crew to emerge from the maturation chamber dripping with futurist fluids and wielding terrifying cybernetic implants. The Canadian producer had always been one of the more alien elements of the NS team, a status borne out by his neglected 2011 LP Bible Eyes. While whatever memo almost all the label's producers got has often resulted in stylistic changes beyond recognition, Egyptrixx has retained his unique character in the chiming synths, dark chords and flair for the epic. While other ice-hot future releases of this ilk: Jam City's Classical Curves, L-Vis 1990's Ballads, Logos's Cold Mission, Nguzunguzu's Sky Cell, Kingdom's Vertical XL, Hysteric's Club Constructions Vol. 5, Rabit's Sun Showers - have occasionally risked veering Icarus-like too close to zero-point exobiological minimalism to really get you moving, 'A/B til Infinity' is one of the more consistently successful efforts to combine compulsive grooves with the searingly strange. The album neatly separates its slower, more exploratory tracks from the movers, giving listeners interludes in which to bathe in Oneohtrix-style abstraction. MGM foolishly neglected to hire Egyptrixx to produce the soundtrack to their new Robocop film - they don't see the future he sees. A/B Til Infinity is the latest in an ongoing sequence of shockingly fresh releases from the Night Slugs extended family and the dance underground at large.
