Boomkat Product Review:
Potent 3rd transmission from aetheric entity Civilistjävel! via the Low Company camp. A strong look for fans of Werkbund, Kevin Drumm, The Hafler Trio.
Continuing to eke out his own sound within the increasingly crowded contemporary ambient sphere, Swedish artist and enigma Civilistjävel! operates with pharmaceutical grade hypnotic efficacy in ‘3’ after dispensing two sides of similarly strong material since 2018.
Their sound is a real delicacy made for patient, solitary consumption, and preferably under low lumen levels. Entering with a tract of iridescent murk every bit as unplayable but intoxicating as, say, Werkbund releases, the record gets right under-the-skin with a very gradual tidal incline as it flows thru laminal layers of subs and harmonic aurora recalling deepest Porter Ricks joints, and into what sounds like Uon’s scapes washed out with bleach, before wilting away with a solemnly heart-breaking melodic vignette, and dead-eyed stygian pulses to close.
