*Includes an Exclusive Kelpe remix* Having been plucked out of obscurity by Rush Hour, who released that killer Plastic World doublepack, the UK's own BNJMN is back with another mightily impressive EP. Here, his lush, grooving house sound - with a melodic architecture that owes much to high-church Detroit techno - is injected with some tasty garage flavour. Opener 'One Sea' is a beautiful, primary colours stepper, fleshed out with opalescent synth textures and a radioactive bassline. while 'In Out' is faster, more stripped-back, its techy 2-step flex anchored with gorgeous Blade Runner strings and scooping sub-bass. ‘Hybridisation’ is broken house dressed with opalescent keys, and puts us in mind of Urban Tribe and Theo Parrish at their most serene; ‘We Are The Weather’ is a more conventional but no less satisfying 4/4 jam. Remixes come from Lukid and Kelpe, the former in particular doing the business with an elegiac, near beatless fix that highlights the melodic strength of the source material. Top stuff from a very promising young producer.
