Boomkat Product Review:
This album is the 100th release from the mighty Staubgold label, arriving twelve years on from its establishment in Cologne by Markus Detmer. 100 Jahre Einsamkeit is also the third compilation in the Plays Staubgold series, following on from Peter Grummich's DInner Music For Clubbers and Alec Empire's Rauschgold. Interestingly, Staubgold as we know it will end hereafter, and this release heralds a reboot for the label, as it divides into Staubgold Digital (for downloads and CD releases) and Staubgold Analogue (for vinyl). Presumably though, while the catalogue numbers reset to zero, the music policy will remain as found here - full of inventive electronics and forays into the avant-garde. Among the highlights here are entries from label regulars like Mapstation, Ekkehard Ehlers (who scores two entries, including the sublime closer, 'Woolf Phrase') and Kammerflimmer Kollektief, while further outstanding contributions arrive from To Rococo Rot, the brilliant Rafael Toral and Oren Ambarchi (whose 'All Acrostics' gets remixed by Jim O'Rourke and Tim Barnes).
