Ships in 8 daysReissue of Fela's 1975 masterpiece, and to many one of his finest moments. Both sides feature drummer Tony Allen at the height of his powers and an inspired Africa 70 backing. 'Expensive Shit' recounts Fela's notorious tale about Nigerian police raiding his compound, only to plant a joint on him and ultimately get duped in the funniest fashion. Flipside is the immense instrumental groove 'Water Get No Enemy', whose influence has cast a spell over countless artists ever since. Unmissable.
Ships in 8 daysDouble feature starring selections from two solo albums by the Can mastermind. Includes the odd mix of bellicose tribal drums and MIDI orchestrations from 'Der Osten Ist Red (The East Is Red)' (1984) and mellow but eerie palette of motorik drums, spooky organ and African chants of 'Rome Remains Rome' (1987).

Long live the spirit!

Their aesthetic is probably best described as a slower, "deeper" strain of the Príncipe sound, compared with the ruffer, grimier strains of DJ Marfox or the B.N.M. / P.D.D.G. crews. Under the gangster banner "TáTipo Já Não Vamos Morrer" - meaning "It's like we won't die anymore" - they drop six slick riddims ranging from DJ Téilo's strangely haunting "Afrohouse torchsong", '7 Maravilha… Read more
Ships in 8 daysDebut shot of dynamic grime futurism from Chemist for Coyote Records, backed up with Last Japan and Rabit remixes. Twinning his studies in composition and technology for film and games with current strains of HD UK grime, Chemist coins two lucidly detailed, kinetic constructions with the intricate polymetrics and strafing square waves of 'Defiance', and the robotic Eski origami of 'Blocks' marking him out as a slick sound designer. Rabit's remix of 'Defiance' is condenses its energy into pensive, droning subs, militant claps and sino licks owing as much to Angola as An… Read more
