dj guy - 20 / 81 / 05
Glasgow's All Caps finally give birth to DJ Guy's highly touted archival techno discoveries dating back to '94-'96. Already favourites of Kowton and Ben UFO, these three tracks reveal the dusty, smoke-clogged dreams of Cardiff's (DJ) Guy Evans circa the golden phase of Warp Records and the Detroit/Berlin techno helix. Thanks to the efforts of All Caps they've been dusted down and pimped out for club play, presenting the mercurial synthlines and pumping, clattering space-techno groove of '20' (1996) on the A-side, whilst flipside '81' (1994) ventures much further into the cosmos with charmingly rudimentary 727 drum programming anchoring the kind of spiralling synthlines that would be defined in Autechre's 'Incunabula', and '05' comes off like some stray, noisy offcut from Move D's 'Kunststoff' suite.
