matthew dear / john selway - Stealing Moves
The third release on Ghostly International's offshoot label comes courtesy of techno/house stalwart John Selway and Matthew Dear. Each producer tackles the track 'Stealing Moves' in their own inimitable stylee, kicking off with Selway utilising vocals and huge echo's to create a rhythmic collage over the top of a serious 4/4 percussion line that rolls superbly, taking in a bit of latin rhythmix and subtle strings to create an uplifting tone while remaining rooted firmly on the dancefloor, ace. Matthew Dear, on the other hand, sticks to the electronix and drags every bit of funk out of his machines. Using classic little edits like backwards kick drums, broken beats and metallic percussion, the man pulls together with the bassline and bleeps on what will surely be a recognised winner from the Ghostly stable. Ace.
