tujiko noriko - I Forgot The Title
Noriko Tujiko made many friends with her "Shojo Toshi" offering last year on Mego, so a new 12" was a very welcome thing in these parts. Four tracks are drawn from her Japanese only debut, "Keshou To Heitai", and the remaining one was recorded at the Rhiz in Vienna in 2001. 'Anti Newton' sports a large arrangement, truly perfect pop strings, while "Pop Skirt" hits a more private, almost confessional note. The melodies of 'I Love You' seal this relationship with pop music, as a leaving breathing thing. 'A's Travel Notes' perhaps is the most traditionally Mego sounding of the cuts here, and perhaps the least strong, only because of the brave new vistas the other cuts open up. "Robot Hero" - the live cut, ties things up in fine style. A release to enchant and surprise anyone who thinks they have Mego in a convenient pigeonhole, and besides that, wonderfully lovely.
