xhin - Dark Tiled Landscape EP
The 'Dark Tiled Landscape' EP is the best we've heard from Singaporean techno producer, Lee Xhin. It follows his previous twelve for Token with four technically advanced and complex creations building on the foundations laid by Surgeon and Regis' solo actions, and as BMB, with a mix of analog and digital production techniques and incisive dancefloor swagger. 'Projection' is a real body mover, synching offset bass and corrugated percussion with shuddering metallic synth, and the title track is built for proper darkside jackin'. The BMB influence is clear to hear in the rudely swung swerve of his 'Hunter' killer on the flip and 'A Different Angle' churns up dark, rumbling bass under awning synthscapes reminding of Monolake.
