sikora - Jugendfussball EP
For their 6th release on Klang Sikora continue the quality with three tracks and 3 varied styles. The a-side 'Schutze holt' is a minimal, fast paced track, stripped components coming together to form an ace groove, very lowdown and funky. As it builds up, high frequency strings start to appear and pan around the speakers. This added effect of strings completes the track, and adds a trippy effect that defies the minimal and stripped beats. 'Drei Ecken ein Elfer' is from a different school, a harder, rougher and altogether more Bad Bwoy sort of place. Hard are the beats, large are the drum sounds, and dark and scathing is the mood. Don't get me wrong, it's not a relentless, faceless techno track, of which there are a plethora in today's market, but it's an intelligent fierce creature that will destroy dancefloors and preconceptions of hard techno. Killer. Lastly we come to 'Erster Alles', and a change is in the air, a very subtle piece of work that's both deep and groovy. Almost organ like are the chords that play over the percussion, slowly building and modulating with not a beat in sight but with an underlying sense of rhythm, both smooth and spooky in equal measures, Klang classic!
