**One time edition of this cult classic** Mondo resuscitate Michael Perilstein's OST for cult classic 'The Deadly Spawn' in a deluxe collector's edition gatefold following their reissue of Fabio Frizzi's seminal 'The Beyond' score. Well known to the pre-cert B-movie freaks, Perilstein's score to the Ted Bohus and John Dods-directed 1983 aliens-in-the-US gore fest is just dripping with flutes and carmine Carpenter-esque synths for the most part, and blessed with some wickedly cheeky "romantic" bits in the vein of Goblin or noodlier Badalamenti-style jazz moods and a killer funky instrumental ballad to close. In the finest tradition of the genre it straddles a fine line between genuinely chilling and frothy naughtiness, exactly the sort of stuff you'd surreptitiously watch and listen to around your aunt's or at a mate's who had more liberal parents than your own. Remaster by James Plotkin, brilliant liner notes - some of the funniest we've come across - by the composer himself! grab one while you can.
