Also features 2 x DVDs holding all 56 tracks as 16/44 files, hi-res FLAC files and original master quality 24/44 or 24/96 files, plus 24 page booklet designed by Kim Hiorthøy with extensive liner notes from Fiona Talkington and John Kelman** Rune Grammofon are about to make a tonne of heads very, very happy with this collection of solo work by peerless Norwegian multi-instrumentalist, Arve Henriksen, cut to wax for the first time. Regarded by his label as "probably Norway's most versatile musician of his generation", Henriksen is responsible for some of the past decade's outstanding musical moments with the otherworldly 'Chiaroscuro' (2004) and his remarkable 'Cartography' (2008) for ECM Records, establishing a richly expressive and diverse oeuvre which has seen his presence sought out on record by David Sylvian and reams of Norway's finest, beside his role in the groundbreaking improv group Supersilent alongside longtime collaborator, Helge Sten aka Deathprod. As you'd guess, it's a total pleasure to finally see and hear these albums pressed to vinyl, and most notably to discover freshly forged material on 'Chron'. Melding signature "singing trumpet" with keys, organ, synth and rhythmic electronics, it's an assured 'Solidification' of his sound, veering skillfully from the AFXian electro klangs of the opener to dramatic piano pieces via ambient jazz vistas and explorative drones with near-unparalleled freedom and integrity. An incredible set - so good to have these amazing albums on vinyl finally.
