epic45 - Drakelow (Grey Vinyl)
**Now available on (grey) vinyl for the first time** A very pleasant surprise this one, after last years gorgeous ‘England Fallen Over’ EP, which distilled all our favourite bits of shoegazer foppishness into one short but ridiculously sweet package. This is yet another slice of prime dense and distorted beauty, but rather than going with the breathless pop of the last EP, we are treated to beatless soundscapes and thick gaseous atmospheres. The first track ‘Spires Against the Summer Sky’ comes off like a bastard poppish son of Mountains or Shuttle358 with ‘Tunnel 1’ resembling Mokira or Belong far more than Slowdive or My Bloody Valentine. A home listening gem, ‘Drakelow’ is sure to appeal to all those of you who pine for a bit more Eno with your tea in the morning and shows another level to those mighty talented folks Epic 45. Oh, and the power-station reference has been spotted...
