**Gatefold double 180g LP with etching. Includes download code redeemable from the label** Mat Sweet wields some gnarlier, flashier rock moves in his usually introspective Boduf Songs guise. I couldn't claim to know their whole catalogue but this record feels like a big departure for the project, successfully attempting and cracking a fiercer, darker, more ambitious sound reinforced with drum machines, bleak ambient atmospheres and those hushed vocals unnervingly pushed to the fore. To be fair, this feels absolutely f**king necessary in 2013, but this modernity doesn't come at the expense of Boduf Songs' timeless integrity, somehow finding that blind-spot between Burial Hex and Radiohead that's got our seal of approval at the very least.
