butcher the bar - Get Away / Leave This Town
In a move that eschews Morr Music's traditionally electronic pop music values, Butcher the Bar, a peculiarly monikered 22 year old called Joel Nicholson, simply creates folk pop music using distinctly acoustic instrumentation. One might be reminded of singer-songwriter extraordinaire Elliott Smith for instance, but a more striking comparison to these world-weary ears is Billy Corgan, most notably Smashing Pumpkins' '1979' which I'm occasionally reminded of here. That's not a bad thing though, believe me and Nicholson manages to add a great deal to Morr lore with these two carefully constructed tracks, showing a new direction for the label and one that we'll be watching very closely indeed. Lovely stuff.
