dalhous - Mitchell Heisman
Blackest Ever Black cork a vintage third year with the debut Dalhous record. Marc Dall and Alex Ander appeared on the label in 2011 as Young Hunting, yet they've adopted a new moniker to reflect "a new clarity and conviction" to their work, professing influence from the films of Jack Bond and Jane Arden whilst recalibrating their sound somewhere between the prime late '90s electronica heard on Autechre/Skam's legendary 'Disengage' shows and the sombre lurch of their label-mates, Raime. A-side 'You Don't Know What You Want, Do You?' is a Coil-esque summoning of voices from the ether set to brittle, splitting breakbeat and bedsit-in-Hulme synth and string arrangement. B-side 'Success Is Her Sensuality' wields a more muscular, bass-heavy rhythm in the midst of swarming electronics coming off like an unusually restrained Richard Devine production.
