Chicago's Still Music set the scene for Stuart Li's long awaited debut album as Basic Soul Unit. This sampler 12" is most covetable for 'Breathe', BSU's first vocal-starring production of a ten year-long catalogue; it was worth the wait, marrying lushest analogue synth moves with a passionate, soul-burning vocal by Sacha Williamson and a laidback yet insistent groove. Seemingly trading vibes for a minute, Jerome Derradji turns up an uncharacteristically heavy, but brilliant remix pushing tuffer rhythms and blessed with plush synths by UR's Gerald Mitchell, whilst the B-side features on extended version of the signature melodic techno motion 'Clouds', exclusive to this plate.
