Ahead of their eponymous debut album, Ultraísta employ Four Tet and Matthew Dear to give their multimedia pop tunes a lick of dancefloor savvy. Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet flips 'Smalltalk' as frothy but moody-edged pop-house groove with his signature, crafty polyrhythms and an uplifting yet melancholic 2nd half lift. Matthew Dear's take is more experimental, disturbing the drums with a case of itchy pants, synched with a queer, off-kilter bassline and surging, almost-out-time synthlines to beguiling, 'floor-compelling effect. I'd really like this in the club.
