Sounds That God Fears (Welcome To Cosmic Nightmare Culture)
atelecine - Sounds That God Fears (Welcome To Cosmic Nightmare Culture)
Sasha Grey and her Atelecine cohorts present their fourth full length blight from the underbelly of L.A. Still resolved to the same experimental tape methods, they manifest two play-through sides of narcotic seep and weeping sonic sores, employing spiked drum machines, palmed guitars and morphed vocals to their sordid agenda. Machine-made breakbeats are screwed with stomach churning torque under unheimlich vocals before the bleakest ambience gives ways to a doom rock descent pocked with German vocal samples across the A-side. Flip her over and they're locked in psych-jam mode on the first part of 'Red Nights', albeit with a harsh, easy-wipe ceramic tape finish keeping the reverie stoic and cold-to-the-bone, before veering left into No Wave freeformity and thru cyberpunk synth incidentals to a brilliant piece of womb throb darkwave and tumultuous acousmatic closure. Ultimately they've refined their sound here, blending the segues closer and rendering the whole thing with a potently druggy effect, while losing none of their raw appeal.
