prasai jaekankaeo / chamnapa petchpalanchai - Mor Khaen Ha Khu / Lam Plearn Dok Koon Siang Khafn
**Limited, hand-numbered edition of 500 housed in hand-stitched, stamped and screenprinted jacket** Thailand's Zudrangma Records fire up their hugely promising 7" series with a reissue of two obscure syncretic funk wonders. Owned and operated by DJ/diggers Mai Saft and Chris Menist (compiler of the amazing 'Thai Dai', 'Sound Of Wonder' and 'Raw 45s From Yemen comps), the label has previously bowled us out with their 'Luk Thung' and Thai Funk volumes. The goodies here are as compelling as anything from those records, both tried and tested on dancefloor at their highly regarded 'Paradise Bangkok' events in the Thai capital and Japan, Germany, UK and elsewhere. A-side Prasai Jaekankaeo's 'Mor Khaen Ha Khu' features a heavy Afro-beat bassline and loose cowbells scorched with wayward horns and niced-up with the sweetest verses. To commonly perceived Western sensibilities, Chamnapa Petchpalanchai's militant molam flipside 'Lam Plearn Dok Koon Siang Khaen' may initially seem deliriously out of tune, but the experience of this exotic shock sinking in is a pleasure in itself, and once it has, your fascination will be piqued and it's hard not to come back to it again and again. So good...
