conrad schnitzler - 00/830 Endtime
M=Minimal has the honour of posthumously releasing the final work completed by seminal synthesist, pupil of Joseph Beuys and founder of Kluster and Tangerine Dream; Conrad Schnitzler. Finished four days before his death in late summer 2011, 'Endtime' defines a seamless 36-track, 70-minute moire of pulses, blips, arcing tones and fluid synthlines characteristically devoid of simplistic melodic resolutions. Like the rest of his massive body of work, he imposes a stoically functional yet poetic form of grammar upon the cold abstraction of his machine's vocabulary to convey its most honest revelations. He makes himself a conduit for the purest tonal expressions, punctuating clouds of pollutant bleeps with spiralling arpeggios, wrapping headstrong rhythms with instinctively modulated envelopes to interpret raw current how an astrologer would divine cosmic symbology. This symbiotic relationship is at the core of his singular and deeply influential oeuvre; few other musicians/electronic explorers have had the vision and dedication to bypass the ego in their art, the ability to yield themselves as such a pure transducer of ephemeral and esoteric information. If this is your first encounter with Schnitzler, it's as good an introduction you could hope for, and should potentially inspire you to cycle backwards/forwards through his near infinite, inimitable soundsphere. And even if you're au fait with Konrad, this will surely measure up as one of the most crucial, coherent episodes in his forty-plus year career. Highly Recommended.
